About Northern Ireland Community Energy (NICE)

A pioneering, Northern Ireland,  community energy benefit society (BenCom) established 2nd December 2014.  Our primary focus is the creation of community owned renewable energy projects & energy efficiency services which keep financial revenues within the local community.  NICE operates under the Co-Operative core values and principles. 

Principles and Values

Northern Ireland Community Energy Limited (referred to as NICE) is a community benefit society (BenCom) a form of co-op which follows the seven internationally agreed principles of co-operation and a set of co-operatives values. NICE is guided by the co-operative values of democracy, equality, equity and solidarity with the ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and care for others.

Objectives

'a local community energy co-operative, taking forward, community owned, renewable energy initiatives and energy efficiency services which provide a social, economic and environmental returns' 

NICE Board Members

NICE is managed by a group of volunteers (unpaid) with various skill sets and expertise in renewable energy, co-operatives and community share offers.

NICE Annual Reports and Financial Statements are openly available.

NICE was incorporated in 2014 our most recent updated rules are available to read or download including our two Community Share Offer Documents.
